As we head towards the end of 2024 we wanted to have a look back at what’s been a fun and very busy year for the Sonshine family. We’ve had an absolute blast getting to catch up with so many of you at dozens of outside broadcasts, concerts and other events across the year.

Here’s a wrap of all that’s happened!

January

  • We had an amazing time welcoming Irish Christian rock band We Are Messengers to Australia, as they kicked off their Where The Joy Is Aussie tour at Riverview Church.
  • We also welcomed brand new Table Talk host Leah to the Sonshine family… later to join Dan as part of our brekky team!

February

  • We celebrated love in February, when Ethan surprised his long-time girlfriend Micah, with a Valentine’s Day proposal live on air at Rothwood. Relive the beautiful moment here.

March

  • We gave you the opportunity to partner with us once again as we joined Water For Africa for our third annual Watering Day. You provided safe drinking water for life for more than 30,000 people in Tanzania, making it the most successful Watering Day yet!

April

  • We welcomed a two new members to our on-air team, with Jo becoming our new Table Talk host, and Norm joining Bec on the drive home.

May (what a month!!)

  • We held our sixth annual Heart For The Homeless appeal throughout May, and you blew us away with your generosity once again! You donated 11,259 items at our 23 drop-off locations across the metro area, which were gratefully received by our partners at St Bart’s, St Pat’s and Uniting WA for distribution to those experiencing homelessness across Perth.
  • As part of the Heart for the Homeless appeal we held outside broadcasts at St Bart’s in the city, and Lakeside Basketball Stadium, which were a whole lot of fun!
  • We loved having our finalists come visit us at Sonshine’s studios to compete in some games as part of our Mother’s Day Mamma Mia Diamond Giveaway, with Kayla taking home the major prize of diamond earrings for her mum.
  • We welcomed For King + Country to Perth for a massive concert at RAC Arena as part of their Homecoming Tour. Bec and Norm broadcast their show live from the Arena before the show. What a night it was!!
  • We sadly said goodbye to long-time breakfast host Kirste, after 8 1/2 years at Sonshine.

June

  • We held our annual June Appeal, and you once again came through and astounded us with your generosity. We ended the appeal a little short of our target, but over the following days you kept giving and helped us blast through to surpass it! Thank you!!
  • Bec & Norm tried their hand at putt-putt, taking their show to Wanneroo Botanic Gardens for an outside broadcast.

July

  • We were out and about again in July, with Mike taking his Saturday morning show to Koorong Books’ new Canning Vale store, while Bec and Norm got sporty again, visiting Warwick Stadium to broadcast live.

August

  • We once again asked you to help us help those in need in other parts of the world with our second annual Take Away Hunger Day. You provided a month of nutritious, life-giving meals for 6,532 children in Uganda.
  • Dan, Leah, Bec and Norm got their hearts racing, as we sent them driving at Carco Raceway with V8 Drive Day, as part of our Father’s Day competition. It’s safe to say they had the time of their lives!
  • Our brekky team took on some Olympic Sports to celebrate the Paris Games, and the results were hilarious. Check out the Sonshine Games highlights here.
  • We said goodbye to afternoons host BT, but he’s still around working behind the scenes!

September

  • We hosted our Father’s Day competition finalists with an outside broadcast for Bec and Norm at Hi Voltage. The winner walked away with an amazing driving experience behind the wheel of an Aston Martin Vantage thanks to V8 Drive Day.
  • Leah and Dan were also out and about, heading to Laika Coffee with Rebound WA to try out wheelchair basketball in celebration of the Paralympic Games.
  • We said goodbye to Norm from Drive, but welcomed Lauren to Afternoons.
  • We won the Community Impact award at the Christian Media and Arts Excellence in Media Awards for our Heart for the Homeless appeal!

October

  • We held outside broadcasts for our brekky and drive shows at Halo, Fremantle Markets, Scarborough Beach and Beatty Park Leisure Centre, and asked you to find us to win tickets to see Lauren Daigle perform live. It was a whole lot of fun!
  • We also took our drive show to Providence Christian College for their annual Arts Festival.
  • We welcomed Asa back to the drive show as Bec’s co-host!

November

  • We held our Radiothon appeal, and loved welcoming a range of Perthonalities, politicians and regular guests to our studios. Once again you astounded us by helping us to pass our appeal target! Thank you!!
  • We took our Saturday morning program to the Wanneroo Show for an outside broadcast, and then headed to the Vic Park Summer Street Party the same day for our Saturday evening show!
  • We sadly said goodbye to Table Talk host Jo, who headed back home to South Africa.

December

  • We held our annual Jingle Bell Jackpot competition and enjoyed giving you prizes in the lead-up to Christmas!
  • Our annual Helping Hands Hamper Giveaway saw us bless some families in need.
  • Bec and Asa took their last show of the year to Lakeside Baptist Church for their Christmas Markets.
