Dr Janene Sproul, lecturer in science education at Murdoch Uni, will speak on: “The recurring student question: ‘How can you believe in God and be a Science teacher?'” We’ll move from the natural world to educational theory to contemporary school science classrooms – where seeing no longer equals believing. Here the seeming dissonance between God and Science craves resolution. In a safe space students may ask (or challenge!) in front of 30 of their peers. How you manage the next 10 seconds may close down discussion or bring opportunities.
ISCAST is Australia’s version of Christians in Science – website iscast.org . We address perceived conflicts between mainstream science and mainstream Christian faith, and explore where faith interacts with front-line science and technology. The Perth chapter holds monthly meetings, free and open to all.
