In a world where millions of people don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water, Sonshine’s annual Watering Day has once again made a life-changing difference. This year’s event, in partnership with Water for Africa, was nothing short of extraordinary. The Sonshine family again showed incredible generosity and support. A heartfelt thanks to you for a truly amazing effort!

Our Goal For The Day

When Watering Day was held, on March 20, we aimed to raise enough funds to provide clean water for 20,000 people in Tanzania. While this was already an ambitious goal, the rising costs of installing and repairing water wells in Tanzania led to an increase in the donation amount, from $3.50 to $4.50 per person.

“Given the rising cost of living and the challenges many people face, we knew this year’s target might be tough to reach. But, we decided to remain hopeful and conservative in our goal. Little did we know, our faith would be exceeded in the most remarkable way!” said Sonshine CEO Michael Pailthorpe.

A Heartfelt Thanks!

From the moment the day opened, the donations began flooding in at an incredible pace! And… they kept coming — right across the weekend and into this week! Thanks to the remarkable generosity of the Sonshine family, we smashed our target, reaching an astounding 35,159 people who will now have access to clean, safe water for life.

Phil Hepworth, co-founder of Water for Africa, shared his appreciation for the outpouring of support:

“Not having clean water doesn’t just impact their health; it affects education, commerce, industry, and so much more. Water is life! A huge thank you to everyone who gave on Watering Day. Perth, you have absolutely blown us away with your generosity!”

With Watering Day 2025 marking the fourth year of partnership between Sonshine and Water for Africa, this year’s success has been a powerful reminder of how much impact we can make when we come together. For just $4.50, one person in Tanzania gains access to clean, safe water — a gift that can change everything. It means women and children no longer have to walk hours each day to fetch water, and villages are transformed when a well is built. The difference is life-saving, life-changing, and far-reaching.

Where to Now?

As we look forward to future updates, we’ll continue to follow Water for Africa’s progress in Tanzania. They’ll be busy in coming months installing more life-saving wells in rural villages. Thanks to the generosity of our listeners, 35,159 people will have access to the clean water they deserve — a future of better health, education, and opportunity.

On behalf of the Sonshine team and Water for Africa, thank you to everyone who gave so generously. You’ve made an unforgettable impact on the lives of thousands of people in Tanzania. You’ve shown us once again that together, we can make the world a better place — one drop at a time.

Stay tuned for more updates from Water for Africa as they continue their important work, bringing clean water to those who need it most. Thank you for being part of something truly life-changing!
