In Western Australia, we’re incredibly fortunate to have clean, safe drinking water at our fingertips, but for millions around the world, that’s not the reality, and that’s where Sonshine’s Watering Day comes in!

Every 90 seconds, a child dies from a waterborne disease — a heartbreaking statistic that’s entirely preventable.

That’s why we’re partnering once again with Water for Africa for Sonshine’s Watering Day on March 20. This is a day dedicated to bringing clean, life-saving water to communities in Tanzania. Our goal this year? To reach 20,000 people with access to safe water.

This marks our fourth year supporting Water for Africa through Watering Day. During last year’s campaign, WFA founder Phil Hepworth reminded us just how far-reaching the impact of clean water really is:

“Not having clean water doesn’t just impact their health — it affects education, commerce, industry, business… it’s everything in life. Water is life.”

Throughout Watering Day, you’ll hear powerful stories from real Tanzanian communities and the Water for Africa team, sharing what life is like without clean water — and how everything changes when a well is built.

  • One well serves around 1,900 people.
  • One water project can transform an entire village.

Right now, many women and children — especially girls — walk up to 6 kilometres a day, carrying 20 litres of water on each trip. This daily task not only puts them at risk but also keeps them from attending school and pursuing a better future. But here’s where you come in.

So, for just $4.50, you can give one person in Tanzania access to clean, safe water.

It’s a small gift that creates a life-changing impact.
