When Asa let us know this time last year that he wouldn’t be staying around to join Bec for the drive show in 2024 we were pretty sad. We’d all enjoyed having him on the Sonshine team, and he fit in perfectly! Bec was especially sad to have to start 2024 without a co-host!

So, when Bec again found herself without a co-host a few weeks ago we gave Asa a call to see if he might be interested in making his way back to Perth… and were absolutely thrilled when he said he would love to! And, don’t worry…. this time we told he he’s not allowed to leave us again!

So, what exactly has Asa been up to so far in 2024… and why was he keen to return? Here’s the answers to all the questions…

What have you been up to since you were last at Sonshine?

I became a sporty baker since leaving, learning how to make sourdough, and run more than 2km without my legs falling off.

Why did you decide to come back (apart from the fact that Perth is awesome and you just couldn’t stay away!)

I flew back mostly because I missed being on-air, and seeing my brother, sister-in-law, and their two sons. I heard they were in the market for a fun uncle…

What are you most looking forward to about being back in the drive team?

While I enjoy pushing Bec’s buttons, my favourite part about being on the show is reading the fun, quirky texts that come in from the listeners!

What do you think Bec is most looking forward to about having you back on the drive team?

Bec is probably most excited about my return because I laugh at her jokes. Note: She pays me $10 per laugh. It’s a good side hustle!

So… there you have it! Asa is back and we’re already loving having him in the Sonshine family again (and we’re looking forward to taste testing this sourdough he’s now so good at baking)! Check out all the laughs from 3-6pm every weekday with Bec and Asa!
