We caught up with Two Gloves founder Scott Ingram to learn how a digital marketer ended up leading one of Perth’s fastest growing gardening businesses.

Q: Scott, where did the idea for Two Gloves come from?
A: One December afternoon I was reviewing marketing data and noticed a consistent trend: people were searching for gardening services, but not getting many results. I figured I’d test the demand over the Christmas break and built a quick online presence.

Q: Did you have any experience in gardening?
A: Not professionally. I just liked being outdoors. When the first enquiries came in, I didn’t have a team, so I did the jobs myself. I borrowed a trailer, bought gloves and a few tools, and hitched it all to my Corolla. That was the start of Two Gloves.

Q: How did things grow from there?
A: The reviews were solid and by Easter, I was getting more work than I could handle. I hired my first gardener, and that’s when I saw the real potential. Bringing in experienced people and giving them the right equipment made a huge difference.

Q: Did you return to Helium Marketing?
A: I didn’t! But the team have pretty much stayed the same, but under new leadership. and we still catch up socially.

Q: What does the gardening business look like today?
A: We’ve grew to five crews operating across Perth’s northern suburbs, as that’s where base is. However, we copped a bit of flak for not heading to certain areas, so now we cover a wider metro span.

Q: Are you still out there doing the gardening yourself?
A: I am off the tools now and try and get out of their way! The team is amazing — highly skilled, reliable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. I’m hands-on when it comes to running the business and supporting the team. I’m proud of the culture we’ve built.

Q: You’re back on Sonshine!
A: Absolutely. Of course, when it came to advertising, I knew exactly where to come! Sonshine has always been great for Helium Marketing, so I wasted no time. I was just a bit concerned long-time listeners would be confused when they heard my name again, but now it’s in a very different context!

Q: What’s the vision for Two Gloves moving forward?
A: Our goal is simple: to be Perth’s most reputable gardening company, with God’s help. That means delivering great service, building trust, and constantly improving.

Q: Final thoughts?
A: I have always been a big fan of pushing myself. This wild ride has stretched me but, I have also grown a lot and learned a lot.

Sonshine listeners will receive $98.50 off any work booked through Two Gloves website. Just indicate that you’re a listener when you book!
