Sonshine is celebrating an exciting achievement, with our very own breakfast host, Leah Allen-Ankins, recognised on the national stage last week. Leah, who co-hosts our breakfast program alongside Dan, was awarded the Emerging Talent Award at the 2025 Christian Media & Arts Australia (CMAA) Excellence in Media Awards.
The Emerging Talent Award celebrates individuals who are new to Christian media and arts yet already demonstrate exceptional potential as personalities, performers, or content creators. It recognises winners for how they connect authentically with audiences, showcase creativity, and live out Christian values in their work. To qualify, entrants must have launched their career in Christian media within the past two years.
Leah has rapidly built a reputation as a warm, engaging, and relatable voice in Christian radio. Since joining Sonshine, she has infused the breakfast show with energy, authenticity, and a genuine heart for people. She creates an uplifting and approachable space for listeners, while connecting with the community through strong audience engagement, creative storytelling, and her natural chemistry with co-host Dan.
Sonshine CEO Michael Pailthorpe praised Leah’s achievement, saying:
“We’re so proud of Leah and the way she has embraced her role with passion and humility. This award highlights not only her talent, but her commitment to using media to bring hope and encouragement to our community.”
Leah’s recognition at CMAA highlights her remarkable journey in such a short time and signals a bright future in Christian broadcasting. As Sonshine continues its mission to connect people wholeheartedly with hope, Leah’s award proves the impact of fresh voices in Christian media.
