When Natalie Nicholls, founder of PLECS Learning, first joined Sonshine’s Table Talk program, she was hesitant.
“I was honoured…but also scared,” she shared. “I didn’t want to call or text in let alone speak live!”
But then something shifted.
“I realised it wasn’t about me. It was about what I could give.”
That perspective has fueled years of volunteering and speaking, where Natalie’s passion for helping families and sharing expert advice has encouraged countless parents across Perth.
A Safe Space for Families
With three children of her own, Natalie knows the importance of choosing media carefully.
“I used to flick between stations,” she admitted. “But once I had kids, I wanted to know they were hearing something safe, helpful and positive.”
That’s when Sonshine became her go-to.
“We laugh in the morning, we hear great music, and the Table Talk content is just so helpful. I know I’m getting value and my kids are too.”
In a world where negative media dominates, Natalie sees Sonshine as a refreshing alternative. “I love that I can trust what’s being said. And even the warnings before the news that’s thoughtful.”
Stories That Change Lives
One message from a listener really stuck with her.
“She said, ‘I’m glad I listened. The phone issue was affecting my relationship with my child. I even downloaded the app just to catch what I missed.’”
Natalie paused. “That’s what this is about giving people hope and tools to change their families for the better.”
Why She Gives
During Sonshine’s June Appeal, Natalie was clear about the need for support.
“If you imagine Sonshine not being here what else is there in the community like this?”
She believes Sonshine’s content matters not only now, but for generations to come.
“This is about your kids. Your future grandkids. Every little bit helps. If everyone gave a little, it would add up fast.”
“We All Need This Right Now”
Natalie doesn’t sugarcoat the challenges people face today.
“In this world we’re living in, this messy, overwhelming world, we need something like Sonshine to hold onto. And we need to support it so others can hold on too.”
So if you’re wondering whether to give, her advice is simple: “Do it. Don’t wait. Invest in something that truly makes a difference.”
