Pakistan is fast becoming a top destination for adventure-seekers and cultural travellers, and David Smyth from Forward Travel shares why this country deserves a spot on your holiday radar. With its beautiful people, dramatic scenery, and unique blend of history, Pakistan offers experiences unlike anywhere else.

Pakistan’s greatest highlight is its welcoming and genuine people. Visitors are often struck by their warmth and happiness to share about their country, making every encounter memorable and authentic. Beyond the hospitality, the scenery is simply breathtaking. Northern Pakistan boasts the majestic Himalayas and Hindu Kush mountain ranges, filled with apricot and cherry trees, rivers, valleys, and forests all woven with layers of rich history.

So why put Pakistan on your bucket list? According to David, the country is young but has carved out a distinctive identity. Those who do a little research quickly discover just how much Pakistan has to offer, from historic sites and cities to pristine natural beauty.

Safety and Solo Travel

Safety is often a concern for travellers, but David’s experience in major cities like Islamabad and Lahore was reassuring: he felt very safe and welcomed, with no sense of being hassled or ripped off. Instead, locals were happy to see visitors, and interactions were friendly—even if sometimes punctuated by requests for selfies!

Pakistan is ideal for adventurous travellers, including those who want to explore on their own. Despite outdated reputations, the country is surprisingly accessible and keen to welcome foreigners. Good facilities like Ubers and taxis make independent travel easy. It’s recommended, however, to have a local contact in big cities just in case, which adds peace of mind and insight to your journey.

Accommodation and Budget Tips

Older hotels may look a bit dated since tourism is still growing, but there’s a wave of new boutique properties led by the younger generation. David’s experience in a three-star hotel was comfortable and modern—and within walking distance to cafes and evening strolls. Pakistan is budget-friendly: daily costs for accommodation and meals typically range from $100–$200, with good meals available for under $10. Multiple airlines, including Turkish Airways, Emirates, and Qatar, fly into Pakistan, making it easy to reach.

By adding Pakistan to your travel bucket list, you’ll discover a country brimming with natural wonders, rich culture, generous people, and affordable experiences that reward every kind of traveller. All it takes is a little curiosity—and the adventure of a lifetime awaits.
