When BT announced he was stepping away from his on-air role a few weeks ago we were left to hunt for a new presenter to keep you company every weekday afternoon, and as it turned out, we didn’t need to look far! The new voice you’ve heard on-air during the 12 – 3pm shift this week is not entirely new, as Lauren McDonald moved into the role after spending the past 18 months in our Relationships team.
So what led to the switch in roles? Learn more about Lauren and how it all came about with the Q&A below!
1. What’s the most important thing we need to know about you?
My first love is God, next is my family, followed closely by sport.
2. Who’s in your family?
My husband Craig, eldest son (24) Zak, Ashtyn (15) and Judsen (9). I’m a boy Mum and I love it!
3. What did you do before becoming our afternoons host? And how did this new role come about?
My role in the Relationships team saw me looking after our Family Partners and assisting with our annual Heart For The Homeless appeal. I have recently become interested in Podcasting and content so when BT announced he was moving on I felt God prompt me to apply. And here I am!
4. Coffee or tea?
Definitely coffee. Don’t judge me. I’m originally a Melbournite. Coffee is life. It is a currency and I will take payment in this form. But it needs to be a good coffee. No instant!!!
5. What’s your favourite thing to do in your spare time?
I love to be outdoors. I love to run, play sport, hike, take our dog to the beach. But during winter I just snuggle up if it’s wet and cold.
6. What are you looking forward to the most about your new on-air adventure?
I love connecting with people, encouraging them and building relationship, hence why I came from the Relationships team. So getting texts on the text line will warm my heart!
7. Anything else we should know?
Thank you to our Sonshine Team who have been amazing as I’ve stepped into this role. I already know we have the best listeners so hopefully I can keep them entertained and filed with joy!
