Bec & Asa‘s Pawfect Match is back for another week, and this time they were joined by Karen Rhodes, President of the Dog’s Refuge Home in Shenton Park. Karen introduced us to a very special boy who, believe it or not, still hasn’t found what he’s looking for. His name? Bono.

At just 11 months old, Bono arrived at the Refuge from a local pound a couple of weeks ago. He’s already won the hearts of the trainers, who affectionately describe him as a “goofy, lanky teenager”. Yes, he’s a little shy at first. But once he warms up, his smoochy, sweet side comes out in full force.

A Playful Spirit With Legs for Days

One of the first things you’ll notice about Bono are his very long legs. He’s listed as a “large-medium mixed breed”, a little bit of everything, as Karen explained, with the kind of gangly, stretchy limbs usually reserved for cartoon dogs or kids’ doodles. But don’t let the lankiness fool you. This boy has energy to burn and a heart of gold.

When it comes to playtime, Bono goes all-in. He recently met a female dog at the Refuge who wasn’t sure what to make of him at first. But as soon as she realised he was just an excitable teenager wanting a friend, the two settled into a happy rhythm. His ideal match? Another young, energetic dog, or a family who can keep up with his enthusiasm.

And yes, Karen assures us: if you’re tall, lanky, and keen on long walks… Bono may just be your soulmate.

Gentle, Curious, and Cat-Approved

Despite his bouncy personality, Bono has a soft, gentle side too. When it came time for the all-important cat test, he passed with flying colours. He was curious, maybe even confused, but incredibly gentle. The trainers believe he could live with a cat if introduced properly.

Because he’s still learning about the world (and how long his legs actually are), the Refuge recommends a home with kids aged 13+, not due to any aggression, but because this leggy lad could unintentionally topple a smaller child while galloping past.

Bono’s Ideal “First Date”

If Bono could write his own dating profile, it might read something like this:

  • Loves long walks – very long walks
  • Enjoys playing, bouncing, and socialising
  • Shy at first, but becomes extremely smoochy once he trusts you
  • Not a couch potato – needs 60–90 minutes of solid exercise a day
  • Looking for someone patient, energetic, and ready for adventure

In other words, he’s searching for someone who will help him grow into the confident, happy dog he’s meant to be.

Bono may be a little shy, a lot leggy, and occasionally clumsy, but he’s also loving, fun, and absolutely adorable. With the right person or family, this playful teen will thrive.
