Bec is determined to turn her dog, Fergus, into Instagram’s next big star—all in the hopes of earning some extra cash so she and Asa can finally buy the Ferris wheel of their dreams. To make it happen, they turned to Theo, a Sydney-based digital marketer and proud owner of Space Corgi. Theo revealed the secrets to make your dog an Instagram star, and build a successful pet influencer account!

The Reality of Owning a Famous Dog

Owning a social media-famous pet sounds glamorous, but Theo admits it can be a little humbling. “It’s a bit of a bridge to my ego personally,” she jokes. “If I’d known in high school that this is all it took to be popular, I would have gotten a dog a long, long time ago!

But does all that internet fame come with financial perks? While Theo didn’t monetise Space Corgi directly, she received plenty of freebies. “We got a lot of swag in exchange for reviewing different products,” she says. “Pet shampoos, hygiene products, travel books, and even free food for humans. That was fantastic!”

Tips to Make Your Dog Famous

If you’re hoping to turn your pup into an internet star, Theo has some expert advice:

1. Stay Connected to the Media

Being connected to the media helps,” Theo notes. If you have any way to get your dog’s name out there—whether through radio, podcasts, or online articles—it’s a great start.

2. Be Consistent and Engaging

Posting daily content is key. “Try to post pictures and videos of your puppy every day,” she advises. “Videos tend to do better because people love moving, shiny things.”

3. Use Multiple Platforms

Don’t just stick to Instagram! “Try Facebook, TikTok, or any platform where the market isn’t as saturated yet,” Theo suggests. Expanding your presence can help drive more traffic back to your main page.

4. Keep It Simple and Fun

You don’t need elaborate setups or professional photography. “Sometimes people just love happy, silly pictures of dogs,” Theo says. One of Space Corgi’s most popular streams was hilariously simple: “We asked the audience to decide if Space should get a pot or a carrot. That stream had 180,000 people watching at one point!

Can Any Dog Be Famous?

Worried your dog isn’t ‘cute’ enough? Theo believes every pup has star potential. “Any dog is handsome or beautiful in their own way,” she reassures.

So, if you’re ready to turn your dog into the next big social media star, start posting, stay consistent, and most importantly—have fun! Who knows? Your furry friend might just become the next Space Corgi.
