Jayne shared how Sonshine got her through a challenging season of life. Read her story below.
What a joy and privilege it has been to listen to and support Sonshine over the years through different seasons in my life. As a young woman, I sat in a church in the early 80s and listened to people share the vision of a Christian community radio station here in Perth. I connected with this vision, keen for the people of Perth to hear about my friend Jesus.
From the beginning, I was fully on board with the station, listening and supporting them because I truly believed they were making a difference in people’s lives. And most importantly, a Christian message was being shared with the people of Perth through the happy years of raising my children. I value the message of hope and the positivity and joy that filled our home listening to Sonshine.
Much later in life, I faced a very challenging season where I experienced much grief and sadness, and for a variety of reasons, I couldn’t go to church. In that season, Sonshine became my church. Sonshine was with me through that season, loving, supporting and encouraging me by filling me with hope as I worked my way through my grief. It was my safe place and my church for many, many months.
Through my tears, I felt loved, supported and understood. The music, the words spoken and the scriptures that came through the airwaves filled me with the hope that this season would pass and through the grace of God I would smile again. I will be eternally grateful to Sonshine Radio for the opportunity to stay connected with my Christian faith, and full of the hope that only Jesus brings through such a difficult time.
Seasons in our lives do come and go. How blessed are we to have a radio station that is always there through the good seasons and the really tough times too. That is why I thank God for Sonshine and will continue to give so others will be blessed. Just as I was.
