Psalm 59:16 But I will sing about your strength. I will rejoice in your love every morning. You have been my place of safety, the place I can run to when troubles come. I will sing praises to you, my source of strength. You, God, are my place of safety. You are the God who loves me!
Do you know how sometimes you meet someone and they seem to have their act completely together – the perfect job, plenty of money and a family that you can only dream of?
I was chatting with a man recently whom I’ve known, I’m guessing, for around twenty years. Rather a long time. He’s a senior judge in what’s called the “family court”. He hears cases largely about marriage breakdown, divorce, custody arrangements, financial settlements.
He’s such a top guy; so warm and caring, so wise. I can only ever dream of being like him. And yet his son, too, has had to suffer through the tragedy and the trauma of divorce.
The more I see, the more I’ve come to the conclusion that there isn’t a family on planet earth that hasn’t suffered from some sort of dysfunction, some sort of conflict, some sort of breakdown. That shouldn’t come as any surprise – but it does, doesn’t it?
What have you had to suffer through? What are you suffering through? Whatever that looks like for you, just allow God, right now, to speak into your heart in that place.
Psalm 59:16 But I will sing about your strength. I will rejoice in your love every morning. You have been my place of safety, the place I can run to when troubles come. I will sing praises to you, my source of strength. You, God, are my place of safety. You are the God who loves me!
This God, your God, is a God of strength, of love that’s new every morning, of safety you can run to. Friend, He’s your strength, your safety, because He loves you.
That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
