John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.
There’s something about a sunny day that just lifts your spirits. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why do we naturally prefer sunshine to rain, or a warm breeze to a cold wind?
One of the biggest things that any homebuyer will look for is natural light. If you’re in the southern hemisphere that means a living area that faces north; if you’re in the northern hemisphere, one that faces south.
My wife and I were having dinner recently with some friends, and they were telling us about one of their elderly parents who moves from room to room during the day just following the sunshine.
Why do we prefer the light? I don’t know, but we do! And without doubt, on the cloudier, darker, stormier days of life when things aren’t going the way we’d like, some of that light would be … well, absolutely awesome, wouldn’t it?
In a very real sense, in a very practical sense, that’s why Jesus came to this earth … for you.
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. (NRSV)
John refers to Jesus as “the Word” – logos in the original Greek. God speaking to us by packaging His glory in human form – the very glory of God Himself, a light so wondrous that words alone can’t describe it.
Jesus came so that you and I might see His glory, the glory of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
