Psalm 86:6,7 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me. (ESV)

Listen: God, Are You Listening?

Listen: God, Are You Listening?

In a world that seems to be a cacophony of competing voices, opinions, posts, messages – you name it – all bombarding us at the same time, it feels often as though everyone’s talking, but no one’s listening. It can be a lonely place, especially in a time of trouble.

We take all that technology for granted these days. Almost everyone has a smartphone in their hands. We send messages, receive emails, make calls, a quick WhatsApp here, a Facebook post there, WeChat, Telegram, so many choices, so much communication … but is anybody really listening?

Alexander Graham Bell was born in Scotland in 1847. As most of us know, together with his partner Thomas Watson, he invented the telephone. In 1915 Bell made the first transcontinental phone call from New York City to Watson in San Francisco.

Can you imagine the excitement as he dialled? Would the call get through two and a half thousand miles away? Would Watson pick up? Would he be listening?

It often seems as though God is a long way off. He must be a busy guy; so much on His plate. If you call on Him, will it get through? Will He pick up? Will He be ready to listen? Will He answer you?

Psalm 86:6,7 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me. (ESV)

Friend, God is always there, always ready to hear your plea for grace, always ready in your day of trouble to listen and to answer you when you call on Him. Always. Never forget that.

Because that’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
