Disney on Ice principal skater, Simone Aubrecht, joined Leah and Dan on Breakfast to talk about her role as Elsa from Frozen and what we can expect from this year’s show.
New Characters
Simone said this year’s year is really incredible, featuring new characters from films such as, Raya and the Last Dragon. Also, for the first time, the show will feature a Frozen 2 segment, featuring Simone herself as Elsa.
Multi-Generational
There will still be classics like Snow White, Cinderella and Aladdin.
“If you come with your grandma, your mother, and your daughter, everybody has somebody that they recognize,” said Simone.
Acrobatics and More!
Along with some of the optics from last year, such as acrobatics and wonderful medleys, there will be pyrotechnics, fireworks and incredible stage production.
“My favorite is the Moana segment,” said Simone. “The amount of props, pyro and an ensemble that is used alongside of Moana… they work together so incredibly well and all of it together is such a beautiful, immersive experience.”
Moana’s Ensemble
She gave the team an insight into her personal favourite moment of the show.
“The section where Moana is about to return the heart of Te Fiti and the water comes down. We actually have ensemble skaters come out as the ocean and they move together with Moana.”
Simone said this part is calming and immersive, an unmissable experience.
“Especially the number before when Te Fiti is this you know sort of lava evil monster thing and then it turns it turns calm it’s such a slick of vibe in the show and it’s just awesome.”
When asked who specifically should see this show, Simone was unable to narrow it down to one audience.
“I’ve seen infants to grandparents at the show. I do see a lot of a lot of toddlers and children come especially dressed up as their favorite characters, which is always incredible to see in the audience. But we do have something for everybody in this show.”
