It’s one thing to attend church on Sunday, but how do you live out your faith during the week – especially in challenging workplaces? Recently, Bec and Asa were joined by Pastor Dale Meredith from the Red Door Community Church to explore practical ways of bringing your faith into the workplace.
Being Authentic in Every Context
Pastor Dale emphasised that faith isn’t confined to church walls. “The best approach is to be authentically the same person wherever you are,” she said. Whether at work, at home, or with friends, consistently living out your beliefs allows your character to naturally reflect God’s goodness. Moreover, authenticity in all areas of life strengthens both your witness and your personal integrity.
However, for some, this can feel intimidating. A workplace might be challenging, rough, or even clash with Christian values. Nevertheless, Pastor Dale encouraged listeners to focus on who they already are in Christ, instead of trying to force spiritual conversations or actions. By doing so, faith becomes less about performance and more about genuine influence.
You Are Salt and Light
Drawing from the Sermon on the Mount, Pastor Dale reminded listeners of Jesus’ words: you are salt and you are light. Salt preserves, and light illuminates. That’s exactly what believers are called to do naturally.
“Stop trying so hard to be what you already are,” she said. “The life of Jesus is in you. Wherever your foot treads, you will be light and bring the kingdom of God.” In other words, this perspective lifts the pressure off, allowing faith to shine through character, kindness, and integrity, rather than through forced words or actions. Consequently, believers can influence their surroundings without stress or anxiety.
Asking God for Guidance
In addition, Pastor Dale highlighted the importance of asking God for guidance in daily environments. Instead of assuming you need to act in a certain way, pause, reflect, and invite God’s direction.
“God works in weird and wonderful ways. Sometimes we think we know best, but if we stop and ask, ‘God, what are you doing here and how can I join in?’ we’ll find our role naturally.” By doing this, we cultivate openness, discernment, and trust. We allow God’s influence to flow through our everyday actions in ways that may not be immediately obvious.
Faith That Flows Naturally
Living out your faith isn’t about grand gestures or constantly quoting Scripture at work. Instead, it’s about letting your character, your actions, and your integrity reflect Christ in every interaction. By trusting God, asking for guidance, and remembering that you are already salt and light, you can confidently live out your faith in any environment, every single day.
Pastor Dale’s advice reminds us that authenticity and humility go a long way. Whether you’re in a boardroom, on a construction site, or simply navigating everyday life, faith doesn’t need to be complicated – it just needs to be real. Ultimately, it’s about living consistently, trusting God’s presence, and allowing your life to naturally shine.
