Bec from Drive sat with Craig, who is part of the Community Recovery Village with St Bart’s.
It has been a long road of recovery since Craig was first homeless. His mental health has benefitted from everything he was offered at St. Bart’s.

The State of Homelessness
“I was homeless, suicidal, having violent thoughts. like that there. My life now is so much different compared to what it used to be.”
St Bart’s
Craig said he met some very generous people along his journey. He spoke a little into his testimony and time being homeless.
“I had a falling out with the law. I attacked a family member, lost my home, my job.”
He referred to St Bart’s as a lifesaver. He stayed there on a six-month contract and made heaps of friends.

“St Bart’s has supported me like no one else. They’ve given me a room for years. They’ve told me they won’t throw me out on the street till I get a position to go to. And I believe that. I strongly believe that.”
There is Help Available
Craig said it is deeply important to have organisations like St Barts helping people who are going through a crisis.
“It’s just been so supportive. Just today we had a charity come in with clothes and I’ve got a beautiful new top with a top pocket. I always try and wear something with a top pocket and it’s brand new. You know it’s just the support has just been fantastic. I can’t say enough.”

Craig said if he is ever in the position to repay what St Bart’s have done for him, financially or otherwise, he would be so honoured to give back.
