Resident Movie Review mum, Sarah, chatted with Bec and Asa on Drive about her latest movie recommendation, The Star. While not a new movie, Sarah said it is a must-watch because of its family friendly themes and its take on Christmas.
“It’s the birth of Jesus, but it’s from the animal’s perspective,” Sarah beamed, “It’s for little people, around ages 6+, but your littler kids could watch it too.”
The Star follows a donkey named Bo who is search for more out of life, beyond his daily grind.
“So it’s the donkey, the animals are all talking to each other, but Mary and Joseph are like the secondary characters, while the animals are all like, what are these people doing?” said Sarah.
The movie is also filled with stars from Zachary Levi (Tangled, Shazam), Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Christopher Plummer (Sound of Music), and more!
“There’s no language, there’s no bad content,” continued Sarah, “I think like one of the violence ratings was the donkey goes in and kicks somebody with his hoof – it’s very innocent, very pure.”
Sarah did warn the family that it is not on par with scripture for the Christmas story, as it takes creative liberties to tell a more comedic version.
“I am going to give this 3 out of 5 sons.”
