In our walk with God, bad situations can cause Christians to base God’s goodness on their circumstances. Pastor Chrissy Lee from Nations Church, chatted with Bec and Asa on Drive about looking beyond our current conditions as we return to the word of God.

“If we look to circumstances to prove God’s love, we’ll actually find ourselves a little bit disappointed,” began Pastor Chrissy. “People can draw this conclusion that God’s not loving at all.”
Pastor Chrissy argued, God indeed has proved his love to us, but it’s not through our circumstances.
Take Heart

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
“But just because they come doesn’t mean that he’s not loving and that he doesn’t love us,” said Pastor Chrissy.
The Powerful Proof
“The most powerful thing is the proof of the cross of Jesus Christ,” said Pastor Chrissy.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
“We need to remember that circumstances don’t last forever, but the Word of God does,” she continued, “Circumstances can and will change, but the love of God permanently remains.”

And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22
“We’ve got to remember the proof of God’s cross, Christ’s cross, the seal of His Holy Spirit, the new identity that we have in Him, the child of God’s identity, these things are stronger than circumstances,” implored Pastor Chrissy.
Enduring and Eternal
“These things are more enduring. Circumstances are temporal, but these proofs of God’s love are actually eternal in our life.”
She concluded with an encouragement to those doubting God’s goodness and love for them at this point in their walk.

“God loves you and he has proven it, by sending Jesus to the cross,” she said, “He will put his Spirit in anybody that receives him, to give them a new identity.”
