Late last year we said goodbye to our Table Talk host Leah Tindale as she took on a new role in commercial radio… so it may seem strange that we’re now welcoming a new Table Talk host called Leah. Well, we have a new, and just as lovely, Leah joining the Sonshine on-air family this year, with Leah Allen-Ankins taking over as our Table Talk host from Monday 29th January, when all your favourite on-air teams will be back to keep you company!

Before you get to officially meet her on-air, here’s a sneak peek, with a special Q&A to help you get to know her.

1. What’s the most important thing we need to know about you?

It might seem unimaginative or like a cliché tagline, but I can’t move past it, plain and simple: I love Jesus. But, I might break the rules early on here and give you a couple of additional “important” things about me; Firstly, I’m that girl who sets at least 6 – but sometimes up to 12 – alarms each morning at irregular intervals. It’s my friends’ favourite thing about me whenever we travel and holiday together. And secondly: Opinion piece – almond milk is the superior of all milks when it comes to taste.

2. Who’s in your family?

My dear mum and dad had 7 of us (shout out to the ‘rents who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, this year gone!) I have 5 brothers, 1 sister — and I now get to love-on an ever-growing tribe of nieces and nephews… my freshest nephew Louis bringing the tally to 17 and promoting me to ‘Level 17’ in that aunty status I’ve really worked hard for. Thank you, Louis.

3. What did you do before joining Sonshine?

I was working as a primary school art teacher, teaching grades Kindy to Year 6.

4. Coffee or tea?

Sixty percent of the time, it’s coffee every time.

5. Dogs or cats?

Dogs over cats for me… but I must confess ‘animal person/animal lover’ generally wouldn’t be my descriptor. I love animals… three feet away.

6. Favourite thing to do in your spare time?

I’ve come to love the simple things, so give me a spot near the water with a coffee or a walk amongst some lush greens with some friends and I’m happy, happy, happy.

7. What are you looking forward to the most about being part of the Sonshine team?

I’m thrilled to be part of a team that places such a high value on spreading hope and joy and speaking life-giving words into people’s cars, homes, and hearts. Can’t wait to connect with and talk to all new and wonderful people! And celebrate and glean from the gold in those around me and in the community!

We look forward to seeing all that Leah will bring to Table Talk this year, and can’t wait to have her on-air from January 29th!
