In WA we’re so fortunate to have access to clean, safe drinking water. For some, this is not a possibility…The stark reality is that a child dies every 90 seconds from waterborne diseases.

But when there’s a well, there’s a way. Join us for Sonshine’s Watering Day on the 21st of March as we join forces with Water for Africa to build life-saving wells in the villages of Tanzania. All throughout the day you’ll hear stories and facts from real Tanzanian people and the WFA team about what life is really like without access to clean drinking water and just how radically their lives are transformed once they can access it.

A new water well will provide clean water to approximately 2,400 people in a rural community.

One water project will transform an entire community. Women and children, especially girls, carry the burden to collect water each day. On average they walk 6 kilometres a day carrying 20 litres of water each trip, often leaving them in vulnerable situations and not allowing them to attend school to receive an education.

For only $3.50 you can provide a person in Tanzania, Africa, access to clean, safe water. It’s the easiest change you’ll ever make.

Give someone access to life-changing, clean water now.

A single gift of $3.50 is all it takes to change a life.

A mother collects clean water from a pump located a few metres from her house. Not long ago she would have had to walk several kilometres to retrieve safe water for her family.

How does Watering Day work?

The Water for Africa model transforms lives by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Water for Africa employs local people to maintain all newly installed water projects along with repairing and maintaining water wells in communities that are abandoned, broken or dysfunctional. Repaired water wells are adopted into our program to ensure a continuous flow of safe, clean drinking water for years to come.

Sonshine's Watering Day with Water for Africa

Four children enjoy playing in clean water, free from E. Coli, Salmonella, Hepatitis A and other waterborne diseases.

In 2022

We hosted the first-ever Watering Day here at Sonshine. Most of the team had been reduced to tears by the end of the day. These were tears of joy and gratitude as you and the Sonshine Family donated enough to give 30,000 Tanzanian people access to clean water.  Watch the team’s reaction here.
