Channel Seven’s new show ‘Million Dollar Island’ premieres tonight!

It’s game on as 100 contestants fight for their share of the $1 million prize in a competition that will showcase the best and worst human behaviour. These everyday Aussies will land on a remote desert island, each wearing a bracelet worth $10,000. They can gain or lose bracelets by competing in challenges, forming alliances, scheming or stealing while trying to survive harsh conditions with limited means.

Contestant Tess McKenna, a mum of six, told her kids she was going to an island to look for treasure. “The island was a huge challenge. It was definitely a whole world of things that I didn’t expect to be faced with. That was the beauty of the island, we didn’t know what was going to come next.”

But despite all the drama, Tess always has her family on her mind. “I always had the kids in my head thinking if they saw me acting in a certain way would that be an example that I want to set? So it was difficult when there were things that happened that I didn’t agree with. But I’m not the sort of person to stay silent. If I don’t agree with something, I’m going to stand up for what I believe in. But at the same time, I don’t want to make enemies. I’m not there to ruffle feathers or things like that. I’m there for my own purpose.”
