Lauren McDonald wearing a black shirt and denim jacketRelationships are extremely important to us here at Sonshine! From relationships with our listeners, donors and Family Partners, to the relationships we form with like-minded community groups who work to make a positive difference in our community. Recently Lauren McDonald joined our Relationships team, with a focus on helping to grow those relationships we have across our community.

One of Lauren’s first major projects is our upcoming Heart For The Homeless Appeal, where we give you an opportunity to show your love and support for those in our community who are doing it tough this winter. We’ll tell you more about Heart For The Homeless very soon, but in the meantime we’d love for you to meet Lauren! Here’s a little Q&A to help you know what makes her tick!

What’s the most important thing we need to know about you?
I love people, I love connecting people, and I am passionate about community. Also, I am extremely competitive!

Who’s in your family?
My husband Craig, eldest son Zak, 22 (who lives in Melbourne), middle child Ashtyn, 14, and youngest son Judsen, 7.

What did you do before joining Sonshine?
For the past 12 months I have been the Director at Centrepoint Music Academy and also worked as a First Aid Officer at a major High School.

Coffee or tea?
Definitely coffee. It’s a currency for me.

Favourite thing to do in your spare time?
Spending time with my family, whether that’s at the kids sports or just getting out and about. We love the outdoors. Personally, my downtime is running or playing some form of sport.

What are you looking forward to the most about being part of the Sonshine team?
I love that it’s one big family. Not just the employees, but the listeners, the sponsors and donors. We don’t have any family in Perth so surrogate families are super important to us.

You’ll no doubt have a chance to catch up with Lauren as she gets out and about in the community for Sonshine. We love having her as part of our family!
